Ranked Texas Wrestling

100 lbs

There isn’t much depth at this weight, but #1 Natalie Roberson (Katy) will have the chance to test her progression against Jubilee Rendon (El Paso Franklin), who took 3rd at 6A State last year. Rendon has been dominant this season, with her only loss coming to freshman phenom Hailey Delgado (El Paso Eastwood).

107 lbs

Smith (College Park) and Jimenez (Caney Creek) have both dropped a weight class, entering a tough bracket. #3 Emily Beltran (Katy) has been one of the breakout stars of the season and will get the chance to challenge returning state placer Mattilyn Givens (Allen). Interestingly, Smith was holding her own against Givens earlier this season but was caught and pinned early. This should be a fantastic bracket to watch.

114 lbs

This bracket is stacked. Mariah Dillard (Azle) is one of the best girls in Texas, recognized on the national scene. She’s up against a loaded field, including 6A State Champion Grace Romans (Allen) and two other state placers. Nevada Daniels (Cinco Ranch) has been solid all year and will be looking to prove herself against the top girls in the state. This one will be exciting to watch unfold.

120 lbs

There’s plenty of out-of-state talent in this bracket to challenge #1 Vanessa De La Cruz (College Park). With state placers from Alabama and Kansas joining the mix, this will be a true test for De La Cruz. Keep an eye on Lucy Clarno (Dripping Springs), who has had an impressive season as a freshman and could be a serious contender for the title.

126 lbs

This bracket is one of the toughest, with Kailin Sebert (Allen) emerging as the favorite after already defeating Violet De La Cruz (College Park) earlier this season. Jordyn Parker (Frisco Centennial), a returning 5A runner-up, will also be looking to challenge the 6A girls. Watch out for Mackenzie Drosche (Cinco Ranch), who has moved down a weight class and has had a solid season.

132 lbs

This weight class sees a lot of Houston talent, with many wrestlers moving between weight classes. #1 Anna Vogt (College Park) is the favorite, but Lynn Horn (Blanchard), an Oklahoma State runner-up, could provide a challenge. Vogt has faced top-tier competition all season, and I expect that trend to continue. Haley Pitts (Katy), down a weight, will be a contender and could very well make it to the finals against Vogt.

138 lbs

This bracket is less crowded, but Kathryn Kaminski (Caney Creek) has had a fantastic season so far and should be one of the top contenders for the title here.

145 lbs

Another intriguing weight class impacted by mid-season weight changes. Landri Von Gonten (College Park) has dominated at 138 but is moving up to 145 for this tournament. Savannah Freifeld (Katy) has been consistent all season, and Jayada Ramos (El Paso Franklin), a returning state placer, will also be in the mix. Expect Von Gonten to continue her dominance, but it will be interesting to see if anyone can challenge her at this new weight class.

152 lbs

There may not be as many big names from Houston in this bracket, but Desiree Romero (College Park) has had a solid season and could be poised for a breakthrough performance here.

185 lbs

Jayaunna Ennis (College Park) has had an excellent season, consistently placing at tournaments, which is no small feat given the tough competition at College Park. Juliana Lefort (Allen), who missed the dual meet showdown in The Woodlands earlier this season, will have an opportunity to face Ennis in this Region 2 battle.
